South Carolina Confederate Flag is Down

The South Carolina State House as approved the Senate bill to remove the Confederate battle flag from the Capitol grounds in a historic 93-27 vote.
The flag’s removal comes nearly three weeks after confessed #Charleston shooter #Dylan Roof killed nine African Americans at the #EmanuelAMEChurch and 150 years after the American Civil War ended. “It is a new day in South Carolina, a day we can all be proud of, a day that truly brings us all together as we continue to heal, as one people and one state,” South Carolina Governor #NikkiHaley said in a statement.

NY Daily News reports that the flag will come down within 24 hours of Gov. Haley signing the bill.
